How to Add Images from the Media Library

You can add images to a WordPress gallery from your media library, by uploading from your computer, or by dragging files into the drop zone. The Source step in the Gallery Builder handles all three methods. Selected images appear as thumbnails you can reorder, hide, or remove before saving.

Before You Start

Open the gallery you want to populate in the Gallery Builder and go to the Source step.

• A saved gallery open in the Gallery Builder.
• Images already uploaded to your WordPress media library, or ready to upload.

Select from the Media Library

The media library selector lets you pick existing attachments without leaving the builder. It opens the familiar WordPress media library modal with search, filter, and selection controls.

1. On the Source step, click Select From Media Library.
2. Browse or search your media library.
3. Click each image you want to include. A check mark appears on selected items.
4. Click Add to Gallery in the modal footer.

Selected images appear as thumbnails in the Files Container. You can drag them to reorder, click the eye icon to hide an image, or click the trash icon to remove it. Hidden images stay in the gallery data but do not render on the front end.

Upload from Your Computer

If you need to add new images that are not yet in the media library, click Select From Computer or drag files directly into the drop zone. The builder accepts images, video, audio, and PDF files.

1. Click Select From Computer or drag files into the drop zone.
2. Choose the files from your computer in the file picker.
3. Wait for the upload progress to complete.
4. The new files appear in the Files Container automatically.

Uploaded files are added to the WordPress media library as attachments.

Reorder and Manage Files

The Files Container shows every image with controls for order and visibility. Drag any thumbnail to a new position to reorder. Click the eye icon to toggle visibility, or click the trash icon to remove an image from the gallery entirely.

• Reorder: Drag a thumbnail to a new position. The order is saved when you click Save Changes.
• Hide: Click the eye icon to hide an image without deleting it. Hidden images do not render on the front end.
• Remove: Click the trash icon to delete an image from the gallery. This does not delete the attachment from the media library.

If you need to add more images after the initial selection, click Add More Files in the Topbar to reopen the selection panel.

What to Check

Confirm the gallery contains the right images before moving to the Configuration step.

• All intended images appear in the Files Container.
• The order matches the sequence you want on the front end.
• No unwanted images are included.

Troubleshooting

If images do not appear in the Files Container, check the following.

• Media library modal is empty: Confirm you have images uploaded to the WordPress media library. The modal shows only existing attachments when using Select From Media Library.
• Upload fails: Check the WordPress upload limits in Media > Add New. Large files may exceed the server upload limit.
• Image not rendering after save: Confirm the image is not hidden (eye icon is open, not closed). Hidden images are stored but excluded from the front-end output.
