How to Organise Galleries into Albums

WP Social Media Gallery does not include a dedicated album or grouping feature for WP Media galleries. You organise galleries by naming them clearly, searching the Gallery Builder list, and using the built-in sort controls. Each gallery is a standalone item; there is no parent-child album relationship.

How Galleries Are Organised

Every gallery you create appears in the Gallery Builder list as a single row. The list shows the gallery title, type, creation date, and status. You can search by title, sort by date or name, and select multiple galleries for bulk actions such as duplicate or delete.

• Gallery title: The primary identifier. Use descriptive names such as “Onboarding Walkthrough” or “Product Launch 2024”.
• Gallery type: Shows whether the gallery uses the WP Media source or a social source.
• Status: Active or inactive. Only active galleries render on the front end.
• Actions: Edit, duplicate, or delete each gallery from the row menu.

Using the Gallery Builder List

The Gallery Builder list is the main way to find and manage your galleries. Use the search bar at the top to filter by title, and use the sort dropdown to order by date or name.

1. Go to WP Social Media Gallery > Gallery Builder.
2. Type a gallery title in the Search bar to filter the list.
3. Open the Sort dropdown and pick date or name.
4. Click a gallery row to open it for editing.

There is no folder, category, or album hierarchy. If you need to group related galleries, use a consistent naming prefix such as “2024 — ” or “Client — ” and search by that prefix.

Naming and Searching Galleries

Because there is no album system, the gallery title is your main organisational tool. Choose titles that are specific enough to find later but short enough to read in the list.

• Use dates: “2024-05 Product Launch” sorts chronologically and is easy to scan.
• Use prefixes: “Client — Acme Corp” groups all client galleries under one search term.
• Use status: Inactive galleries appear in the list but do not render. Use status to archive old galleries without deleting them.

The search bar filters in real time as you type. It matches against the gallery title only, not the content of the images.

What About Google Photos Albums?

A Google gallery type is registered in the builder and its source configuration includes an album_id field. However, there is no working Google Photos provider class in the plugin, so the Google type does not fetch photos. Do not rely on Google Photos albums as a feature.
