How to Install and Activate WP Media Player

Installing WP Media Player takes two minutes using the WordPress plugin uploader. The free version works immediately after activation, no license key or external account is required.

Download the Free Plugin

Start by downloading the free version of WP Media Player from CodeConfig:

1. Visit the official WP Media Player page on CodeConfig.
2. Click the Free Download button to save the wp-media-player.zip archive to your computer.

Upload and Activate

Once you have downloaded the zip file, upload and activate it inside your WordPress dashboard:

1. Log in to your WordPress Admin dashboard and navigate to Plugins > Add New (or Add New Plugin).
2. Click the Upload Plugin button at the top of the screen.
3. Click Choose File and select your downloaded wp-media-player.zip file.
4. Click Install Now.
5. Once the installation is complete, click Activate Plugin.

Confirm the Admin Menu

After activation, look for the WP Media Player menu item in your WordPress admin sidebar. It gives you access to four screens:

• Dashboard: Overview of your media files, events, and top-performing items.
• Media: The list of all video and audio players you have added.
• Playlists: The playlist builder (available with Pro).
• Settings: Global defaults for player presets, branding, email capture, analytics, and data export.

Open the Settings for the First Time

Head to WP Media Player > Settings. The first-run defaults are ready to use. Under the General tab, you will find:

• Default preset: Classic
• Default aspect ratio: Original
• Auto-resume playback: Off
• Site-wide custom CSS: Empty

Analytics are disabled by default. You can enable them under the Analytics tab and specify your preferred event retention period.

What to Check

• The plugin status is shown as Active under the Plugins screen.
• The WP Media Player menu item appears in the WordPress admin sidebar.
• You can access WP Media Player > Settings > General and verify default settings.
• The Dashboard submenu loads smoothly without errors.
