How to Install and Activate WP Media Player
install WP Media Player takes two minutes from the WordPress plugin directory. The free version works immediately after activation, no license key or external account required.
Install the Plugin
Go to Plugins > Add New in your WordPress admin. Search for WP Media Player. Click Install Now on the result from CodeConfig, then click Activate once the button changes.
The plugin is listed in the WordPress.org directory and the free build is distributed directly through it. There is no separate download or upload step for the free version.
Confirm the Admin Menu
After activation, look for the WP Media Player item in your admin sidebar. It opens a submenu with four screens:
- Dashboard: Overview of your media, events, and top performers
- Media: The list of all video and audio items you have added
- Playlists: The playlist builder — available with Pro
- Settings: Global defaults for presets, branding, email, analytics, and export
Open the Settings for the First Time
Head to WP Media Player > Settings. The first-run defaults are already in place. Under the General tab you will find:
- Default preset: Classic
- Default aspect ratio: Original
- Auto-resume playback: Off
- Site-wide custom CSS: Empty
Analytics are off by default. You can turn them on from the Analytics tab and choose how long event data is retained.
What to Check
- The WP Media Player top-level menu is visible in the admin sidebar.
- You can reach Settings > General and see the default preset listed as Classic.
- The Dashboard submenu loads without errors.
